TONIGHT!

Do you think age should be a factor if your music is really well tuned and fans are buying like crazy. What if you had a solid following and still labels don't think your quality material to be signed because of your age?

That's crap, all I have to say to that is Lamb of God. They were together for 8 years as Burn the Priest before they got signed to Prosthetic and changed their name.

It doesn't matter how old you are as long as the product you bring to the table is righteous. A lot of these older bands can definitely teach the young blood some new tricks.

I think it sucks. If that's how it is then, does that mean that bands are only good if they are young, unattached and walking billboards? Since when did it stop being about the music?

If someone is listening to you on the radio and likes your songs, then should they stop liking you because your looking old in a photo shoot or video?

It's just seems things are really starting to get stupid. I hope I don't offend any labels but this is all starting to get really confusing. I mean what is everyone working for?

thats a big steaming pile of sh*t, so what about your age! to me it probably means your more accomplished as musicians. as long as your true to what you do...FULL HORNS AHEAD!!!! plus us old farts have walked "the evolutionary ladder of metal from the beginning" yes kids are definately badass nowadays, but alot of them haven't heard of most of the bands that already did it 10 or 15 years ago & are recycling the same ideas. (which isn't a bad thing) it shouldn't be all about the money or getting signed anyway...but getting paid for doing something you love never hurts either. good music will always sell itself, no matter what your age is. & since when has metal been about being young & cute? thats how we got into this whole emo mess!!!

No, age should not factor into whether a band gets signed or not, "too young" or "too old." In metal, it's the music that matters. Anything superficial and artificial is for pop.

Hmmm...ozzy osbourne probably will retire when he dies or can't make a sentence which isnt bad thing (not about the end) in some sense. The guys a living legend but he will make music probably till he is not capable. Im gonna quote some ignorant idiot, replace with whatever words you'd like to describe as having no male characteristics or being a "flaming queer bag". "I used to jam to that but I grew up." This guy was talking about metal. Whatever sense of intelligence this person had was thrown at the damn store he worked in and into the garbage. Not to mention any store names but guitarcenter, which isnt a bad place just probably that guy. Young and old its a lifestyle attitude and passion for metal heads. Thats my twists on the facts or just my opinion.

I think this is exactly why the music industry is on its death bed.

Lets talk the 70s, bands were ugly, old, fat and homely looking...yet some of the best music we all love comes from that era. All of those bands had one thing "the good looking bands that came after did not"... jobs

Mtv bands after their one hit was through, so were the careers. Stayablity wasnt with most of the good looking one hot hits wonders.

The Ugly 70s guys are still making great music, still selling albums, still putting asses in seats, and still DOMINATING the Music scene. AeroSmith, Ozzy, Ac/Dc, Black Sabbath, Eagles and the Rolling Stones any nite any town will outsell any new band Why, cause they are musicians not models...its about music.

Frankly, age SHOULD NOT be a factor when it comes to dealing with the 'Music Industry' of today. The sad fact remains that it IS a factor. As long as the 'Industry' insists on basing talent on aesthetic properties, the calibur of the 'signed' band will stay at an all-time low.. Sad but true.
We need to do a complete Shake Down of the top people in the music chain in order for this to change. We could start right here, right now! HORNS UP!!

NO! Age isn't a factor...I'm living proof. I still look good and kick ass! And I'm a WOMAN! I've always been independent and most likely always will be...it is so freeing! Once quality bands stop being consumed with the "getting signed" bull-shite, then this obsession with age will be as trivial as I already believe it is.

Btw, I like guys young & older...Ha! Cheek! ;)

Cheers!

Getting signed is like fucking: If you're old enough to handle it and young enough to still get it up, by all means go for it.

And that's all I have to say about that.

In principle, age shouldn't matter. Whether you'er 15 or 85 if your music is quality people will buy it. However, that being said, much of mainstream culture, worldwide has become age or rather youth obsessed. The music industry is one of the worst promotors of this trend. It began something like 20-25 years ago with the introduction of the "pretty" one hit wonders and it hasn't stopped yet. Now, there are exceptions to the rule but I'm not seeing a lot of bands making their first big debuts in their thirties. Sad, but true.
