Well just to prove the point of how IMPORTANT this issue is... Modesto Virtual, The ONLY all ages venue in Modesto was DENIED a dance permit and received a ticket for kids dancing in the venue when they were Jumping up and down. . All shows are being moved to another venue. This happened two nights ago..

What does the commission need to issue a dance permit? Signatures? And if so, whose signatures? The people attending the venue or the people living near by? A little more detail about what they need and then we can help you find it. Probably.

dance permits enable people to mosh which allows venues to keep people coming in no one wants to go to a show and not be able to mosh..

If you want more info check out the site..

I know that doing nothing isnt helping. Being involved makes a difference. Being on the commision brings attention and understanding to our scene. I know that national bands dont want to play places where people have to stand there and not express themselves.
The oversaturation is part of the commision. There are people that dont share the same views we do over these issues. If we dont get people with these views that we share then things will never change so I think its important to ENCOURAGE our "kind" to be involved.

FIGHT THE SYSTEM WITHIN THE SYSTEM.

Why discourage this opportunity to help change things.

We have two venues that have metal shows in Modeto. I dont think that is overstauration. One 21+ and one all ages. We need more to choose from. Modesto Virtual is selling out every weekend. There are not enough dates to go around for bands to play at either of these venues. If we could help the permit, license, police, whatever the issue may be, then things might look up and we wont be frowned upon so easily. We need to concentrate on what positive can come out of it. When it comes to our music scene LESS IS NOT MORE.

Dance permits do not only allow "dance" clubs to conduct business, its for all clubs. NO dance permit means a HUGE risk of getting shut down due to kids moshing anyway reguardless of the rules. I have seen it happen MAY times.

So being able to be pro dance, is a requirement?

What about even distribution of entertainment and maintaining variety so the competition; need not be so heavy. I think I remember at one time at least 4 or more dance clubs with in a couple of blocks. What about making sure over saturation doesn't occur of any particular type dance, concerts, comedians etc? Also especially in metal too many shows in one weekend severely thins out the crowd.

I think this causes promoters and bands to be more cut throat and drives away any chances for great shows away or even kills off many good national shows that come through. It just seems that people could work together more over there and have a shit load more fun all around no matter what type of entertainment comes through.

What would a metal representative need in order to be eligible for this commission?.
Strong Entertainment Comment by Strong Entertainment on January 16, 2009 at 2:00pm
yea thats why we need to represent for our own.. Things wont change unless we get some advocates out there!!!
